Today, I would like to share a few updates on projects I'll be working on this month.

The anniversaries of two of my favorite video-game franchises both happen to be in the month of June: Shantae on June 2 and Sonic on June 23. This year, the Shantae franchise turns 15 and Sonic's turns 26. To commemorate these events, I'll try and do the following:

1) I once said that I had a Shantae drawing I wasn't going to finish anytime soon. I'll start working on it, but I'll use a different style, similar to the one I use here: . This will be the drawing to commemorate Shantae's 15th anniversary. I probably won't do Risky, though...

2) As for Sonic, I have a drawing I haven't finished yet (this one: ). Since the lineart is already done, I won't use my new style for this one. I'll work on it after I'm finished with Shantae. If possible, I'll also work on a second drawing, one made specifically to commemorate Sonic's 26th anniversary. If not, this will be the event-celebrating drawing.

Hello, everyone! It's me, LizNic! I just want to say something: someday in the near future, I'll be writing a Sonic the Hedgehog fanfic series. I've technically been at it for nearly a year, but I never get around to finishing the first story because I'm too lazy. That's why I wanted to get a fresh start; I started anew (I won't change much of what I already have; I'll just start writing it again).

In this journal, I'll be explaining some things about the series, such as the plot, tone, continuity, and anything else I can think of.

PLOT:

Sonic is out on a late-afternoon run, when he notices a girl falling out of the sky. He rushed to her aid, successfully catching her. She seems to be fine, but is currently amnesiac, remembering little more than her own name (Liz the Hedgehog; or Liz la Erizo, as she initially introduces herself), so she's lost. When asked about anything else she could remember, she mentions that, as she fell from the sky, she fell through a mysterious purple mist. Sonic seems alarmed, so he decides to take her to his current residence near Spagonia University, to explain something important to her. Stuff happens. They're at Sonic's home by now, and it's getting dark (yes, this is crucial to the plot). Night fell, and they felt an odd sensation inside. Sonic knew what was coming: what he wanted to explain to Liz. After a few seconds of pain, they were transformed into wolf-like creatures (Werehogs). Both of them. More stuff happens (I don't want to say what, since I'd be spoiling the whole plot), and Liz joins Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Sticks (yes, I'm going to add in Sticks too), Chip, and others in their adventures, have a few adventures of her own, and try to solve the puzzle of where she's from and how she got here to begin with.

TONE:

This series will mostly (try to) have a humorous tone (like Sonic Boom), but will also have a more serious tone at times.

CONTINUITY:

This series would probably fit in with many other official Sonic canon. Here's how it will fit in with some particular games and other media:

Sonic Unleashed (of course): Most of what happens in the game also happened in this series, but has a different ending (Sonic mentions that the developers of the game wanted a more emotional and happier ending, so they changed it from the "actual" story, which I'll mention sometime in the future). I've never finished the game or many others I'll mention, so don't judge me if anything else is inaccurate with this or other games/ media.

Storybook series: I've never played either of the games in this 2-game spinoff (Or side-story? I don't know. Whatever.) series, so don't expect many references to Sonic and the Secret Rings or Sonic and the Black Knight.

Sonic Colors: There will probably be mention and even appearances from the little aliens of the game. I played it, but that was years ago, so don't expect references to the story itself.

Sonic Boom: I've played Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and watched almost every episode of the TV show, so the Sonic Boom canon will probably be the most referenced. This is probably the reason why this fanfic series relies so much on Sonic Boom-esque humor.

Sonic Adventure series: I haven't played these before, so I can't say much of them fit into this universe until I play them sometime.

Sonic Archie Comics: Many of the comics are considered "made-up stories" in this universe, while others are considered things that actually happened. This is because I've only read the first twenty-something issues online. Bernadette Hedgehog does not exist in this series (she is considered "made-up" as well), and Sonic's mother is instead Queen Aleena Hedgehog (from the Sonic Underground cartoon). Jules probably doesn't exist either, so Sonic's father is often brought up as being unknown. The Freedom Fighters do exist, though, but will rarely appear (this series takes place on our Earth, while the Freedom Fighters and Sonic's family live on Mobius). Uncle Chuck also exists in this series, but his story is mostly like that shown in Sonic Underground.

The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog: This continuity pretty much completely exists in this universe (well, season 1 and the first few episodes of season 2; anyways. I haven't watched the rest of the series yet). In this series, Sonic will often show a love for girls, and this is derived from this cartoon series (though Sonic is a bit more mature now). In the cartoon, Sonic is often called a "teenager" but was actually about 11 by that time in this series. Later on, I'll mention the supposed reason why Sonic isn't depicted having a fear of water in this cartoon series.

Sonic the Hedgehog (cartoon): Since I haven't watched the series in years, I can't say for sure whether this show fits in with my continuity or not.

Sonic Underground: Almost all of it is canon. Sonic's and Uncle Chuck's backstory is that from this show. The only thing I can consider to be not canon is the line: "when the moon is full on the second even day of the third month, BAM, it shows up just like clockwork. Today's the day, and I just know that when Mobodoon shows up, so will Mom!" (from the episode Mobodoon, I think) which suggests that the three Hedgehog siblings' birthdate is on March 4th. In this fanfic series, Sonic will claim that this was an error by the show's writers, and that the line was actually supposed to suggest that their birthday was on June 23rd (their actual birthday in my continuity).

Sonic X: I haven't watched many episodes, so I can't say whether the series will fit in here or not.

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games series: No... Just no... This is also considered "made-up" in my fanfic series. Because... obvious reasons... fastest thing alive against a mushroom-eating plumber in a footrace... and a swimming competition... We all know the winner in each... So... no... Just no...

CHARACTERS:

Earlier on in this journal, I mentioned the main characters in this fanfic series would be Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Sticks, Chip, and Liz. Cream, Cheese, and Vanilla will also appear as recurring characters. Professor Pickle and his assistant also appear from time to time. The characters (those who apply) are like their Sonic Boom versions in terms of personality and appearance. That means that Knuckles is... not the brightest one of the team...

SETTING:

This series takes place on our Earth. Rather than the cities from Sonic Unleashed being considered standalone continents, they are parts of the countries they are based on (their real-world counterparts). For instance, Apotos is a part of Greece, Spagonia is a part of Italy, Holoska is a part of Alaska, etc. The story mostly takes place in Spagonia. However, the characters often travel around the world looking for Liz's home, and return to Spagonia when they prove unsuccessful. Mobius is a separate planet, and the former home of all the main characters (except for Liz, Sticks, and Chip, who are from Earth).

EDIT: I know that Spagonia is based off of multiple Western European countries, mainly England, Spain, France and Italy; but I decided to have the city located in Italy. No one has actually asked me about this, but I just wanted to make that clear.

Alignment: Good
Personality: Can be somewhat shy and/or have a low self-esteem at times, but she usually tries to remain happy about herself. She's well-mannered, kind, and polite to everyone she thinks deserves it.

6) Dancing (though she doesn't admit it because of personal issues)

Other Details:

- She speaks English with an American accent, and Spanish with a dialect that I'M NOT TELLING YOU!!! I'll just tell you it's a Caribbean dialect.

I'll write her backstory later on. That's another thing that I know, but won't write now because I'm SO TIRED!!!

Hello, world! It's me, LizNic. I just wanted to say a few things (to the few people who actually care...  ).


1) I probably won't be making a digital rendition of my "Pixel Shantae #3" or a "Pixel" and digital rendition of Risky Boots, mostly due to lack of interest. I've done a few of these, and, as you may have seen from my recent deviations, I'd like to focus more on my Sonic drawings (particularly my OC, Liz The Hedgehog, but I'll probably give you some of Sonic as well).

2) Also because of lack of interest, I probably won't get to making digital renditions of "Layton Brothers: Mystery Room" characters anytime soon.

3) I'm thinking of drawing cartoon characters from preschool shows (such as those from Nick Jr.) someday in a distant future, just because. In said future, expect some kind of "Team Umizoomi" or "Bubble Guppies" drawing.

4) Speaking of my OC, I'll probably make a character description sheet in a future journal.
